Default check engine light

hey, does putting a high flow cat cause the check engine light to come on???

it just came on today(that i noticed anyway), is there anyway to check to see what the problem is without taking it somewhere to get it code read???

Josh, It seems like any time that you mess with the exhaust system, it seems
to eventually cause the check engine light to come on. I think the
only way to get the code is to have it read. I will search the forum
post, because I am sure that this has been posted before. Good Luck...
Oh, waiting for pic's of your Monte...

My cat clogged up at 70,000 miles and did'nt cause the check engine light to co,e on even though the car was just about undrivable by the time we figured out what was wrong and got it to the shop. I had the u bend delete dona as well as having a high flow cat installed along with a less restrictive resonator. The car is much quicker and the chech engine light has'nt come on since the mods to the exaust system. I believe you have another issue and it is'nt related to your exaust system unless it's the o2 sensor. Hope you don't have an expensive problem to fix. The last time I had the check engine light come on was due to fault emissions components which was an $80 fix....good luck with your ride.
