Default Change Engine Oil Message Center Light

I need to know the procedure to reset the change engine oil light in message center on my 2000 Monte Carlo SS. I tryed the key-on pump accelerator 3 times trick, but it did not work.
There is a procedure involving the radio. I just bought this car and don't have a manual yet. Thanks.

The "Key ON and Pump 3-Times" technique only works if you have actually changed the Oil. If the Oil Life Sensor detects that you have lied to it ... it will leave the Light on until you really change the Oil and sincerely apologize into the passenger door speaker with the Radio set to a Fundamentalist Christianity Bible Study Channel broadcasting at night with the volume turned down, or to an OnStar Operator if the vehicle is so equipped.

You could also try turning on the Ign Switch to Accy and Pushing in the Lower Tuning **** for 5-seconds or more until the Radio Display prompts you that it is in the Computuer Mode and then use the Scan Toggle to change the various Modes needing to be altered or reset. Oil Life is right at the front of the pack.

When the Computer asks if you want to reset the Oil Life Monitor ...
Don't lie.
If you do, the Radio quits working and your Doors lock and you can't get out until you apologize.
With the Radio not working ... you better pray you got OnStar!

With the ignition turned to ON, hold theDISPLAY button on your radio until settings is displayed. Use the seek button to select OIL LIFE. Press NEXT until RESET is displayed. Press DISPLAY and the oil life will be reset.

I did change my oil.

That pump 3 times does not work!

I found online manuals at: http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/owners/c...dispManualInfo

I posted this to help others who are given wrong information like that pump 3 times trick.

How to Reset the Oil Life Indicator
After changing the engine oil, the system must be
reset. To reset the indicator, use one of the
following procedures:
Using the RDS Radio
1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON, with the radio off.
2. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at
least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed.
3. Press the SEEK up or down arrows to scroll through
the main menu.
4. Scroll until OIL LIFE appears on the display.
5. Press the PREV or NEXT buttons to enter the
submenu. RESET will be displayed.
6. Press the DISP button to reset. A chime will be heard
to verify the new setting and DONE will be
displayed for one second.
7. Once the indicator has been reset, scroll until EXIT
appears on the display.
8. Press the DISP button to exit programming. A chime
will be heard to verify the exit.
