Default Change oil soon message

I keep getting this when I start my car. I just changed my oil, so I knwo its not that. The oil gauge looks fine in its normal spot it sits at during idle, accel.

Is there some kind of thingy I got to do to reset this? Like, for when you get the low tire pressure message, you just turn the key to ACC, then turn on your parking lights 3 times.

I guess I'm looking for something like that. And yes, I searched the forums 1st before posting. Only found 1 thread, and it dropped off 2yrs ago....

Thanks
Sirmarsh

You can reset the oil liife monitor by turning the key to the on position and depressing your gas padeal to the floor 3 times with in 5 seconds and you can reset the tire pressure monitor by turning the key to the on position and tuning the headlamp switch on and off 3 times within 5 seconds. That's one way. The othe is thru the deck. Check your owners manual.
I thought we had a sticky here on this, but I could only find the tire pressure monitor.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Is there a way to set the time frame of which it comes on(the message)?

I've owned it for 6K miles and changed the oil twice, and this is the 1st time its come on.

It's an 03 N/A SS w/ 43K beautiful miles on it.

i dont think that it is possible to set the frame as to when it comes on...as far as i know its a sensor in the oil system that trips the message not a time frame that sets it off

My service mgr told me that there is no sensor, but it is calculated somehow using alogrithms and the such. I don't know what to believe anymore.

The Service Manager at my local Chevy Dealership told me to reset mine through the Radio Function Buttons. The "Gas Pedal" option doesn't actually RESET the Oil Life Monitor ... it just clears the reminder from the display on the dash. To actually reset the function ... you have to turn on the Ignition to Accy and hold-in the Tuning Button on the Radio for 5-Seconds until the "Settings" are displayed. Select Oil Life Monitor and Scroll through the Menu until Reset is displayed and Push the Tuning Button in to Select Reset.
