RE: CD Player Install on 2002 Monte Carlo SS
I remote mounted my factory deck in the trunk, but wouldn't do it again. You need adapters for your chimes, steering wheel cntrols, and Onstar, no matter what. Like I said earlier, set your personal settings the way you want and remove the system. Oil life and tire pressure monitors are easily set according to the owners manual.
A QUALITY aftermarket deck is WAY better than the factory junk. I thought ALL of the factory components were junk. Only thing I have left stock is the door tweeters.

Could you not just cut the connector off the back of the stock stereo and then use a small guage wire and run them to the back and re-attach the stock unit in the trunk? then clamp off the origional wires and install an aftermarket one?

I have a 02' Monte Carlo SS, it has had a aftermarket in it before, the previous owner put factory back in it. Now i'm trying to put aftermarket in it and i've tried 3 different cd players. None of them will work. Now a buddy of mine picked me up a stereo connector, and a Scosche GMT2049A In-Dash Kit. Can someone please help me.....

It physically won't fit or it won't power up with the wiring?
Is the plastic bracket behind the stock stereo cut? It gets in the way of the wiring and doesn't allow for the stereo to be inserted all the way.
