carb high idle kickdown problem
a couple of months ago, i finished an 454 engine swap from a 75 to a 73 monte carlo. when we started it it ran but the high idle is around 3000 rpm. I have rebuilt the carb on the car, it is a M4ME quadrajet. the little weight behind the thermostaic blower choke housing will fall down when the choke opens, (the weight is ALL the way at the bottom), i can take my hand and turn the throttle down, there is a click and it goes down to about 800 rpm. then, as soon as you press the gas pedal it kicks back up.
what do i need to do to change this?
thanks,
James

Loosen the 3 little screws...turn the choke til the front buterfly is wide open....then turn it back the other way til it just starts to close...then re tighten the three screws and your all set....The choke setting is sensative to warm and cold...(winter summer setttings)....its a simple fix! . HERE is the choke dial to set it!>>>>>>
