6th Gen ('00-'05): Can't Get Rid of P0420 Code....
#11
Jason and everyone interested. I've Ordered the O2 Eliminator to cure my P0420 Woes. I can't have Ol Yella down while my PCM would be off to Jason. I can't invest in a spare one yet but I will by Christmas. In the mean time I'm hoping this will work so I can get Ol Yella through NJ Inspection!
I will post the results!
I will post the results!
I am looking at this emulator: Rear O2 Emulator: 3800 Performance
Can you tell me if yours worked and which one did you go with? Thanks man.

The only thing that I found was that the O2 sensor heat monitor is not ready. It's been 2 weeks now.
Other than that, the car came out of Limp mode, I have no more CEL codes, now getting 29 Highway and 24.5 around town. The O2 Eliminator works great!

Did you get your 02 eliminator? How did it work for you? Please post your results, other members are having, have had or will have this problem. The more Thumbs up we have for this solution, the more members will use it for their Baby!

No JC I have not had a chance to order this yet. I wanted to pick up a scan tool first so I can reset the code before I install the emulator. From what I'm reading it works best when you delete the code then install the emulator. But I will definitely pick one up after I receive the scan tool and I will post back with my results.

OK JC finally got this emulator in place....
I will know hopefully soon as the PCM does its "cycle" or whatever it does. Usually the code has shown up about 2-3 weeks after clearing it. I just cleared it last weekend so I will give it some time and hopefully I have a success story to report about getting rid of the P420 code.

When I got my Eliminator, I cleared all codes then waited for my monitors to get to Ready Mode. They all came up Ready except the Evaps and O2 Heater monitors. I had filled my tank then found out that the Evaps would only run its test if the gas tank is half to a quarter tank full. Once it reached half a tank the Evaps monitor cleared and I was able to pass inspection. It actually took a week for the O2 heater to clear. Since then I have not had a single code come up in my car. I haven't had the P0420 removed yet. I'll probably wait till after we move to Seattle. I'll have it running at 97% if perfect by then.
At any rate, once I installed the Eliminator and cleared the codes the P0420 was GONE!

OK I think I have a vouch for the O2 emulator from ZZPerformance....
I had the code cleared in early January and my nephew hooked up the emulator and the P0420 code has not returned. Before when I cleared it the code always came back within 2-3 weeks. I guess whenever the computer cycled? Or whatever you call it?
Anyways this little goodie gets a big vouch from me.
