Can I disconnect warning lights?
Hi folks, long time lurker, first time poster.
My 2006 SS will constantly chime, saying the hood is open, (it's not) or the wiper fluid is low (it's not). It's a constant chime, and the hood open one will stop me from arming my car and sometimes remote start won't work. I assume the sensors are bad, but I'm not about to spend the money to get them replaced.
Does anyone know a way to just disconnect them, or reset them somehow?

You would need to check how the sensor functions in the schematic, sometimes they are as simple as just needing the circuit to be closed, and just clipping wires and connecting them together can get it to work.
I believe those warnings are in the BCM and not easily editable without BCM programming.

Keep in mind that the switch could also be set up the other way - to have an open circuit when the hood is closed and a closed circuit when the hood is open (kind of like the old school alarm pin switches that prevent the metal to metal contact when the pin is depressed).
Either way its easy enough to check- just unplug it at the sensor. If the light doesn't go off, jumper the ground wire to the signal return wire. If that doesn't work either, one of the wires probably got pinched or damaged somewhere and you'll have to break out the multimeter to figure it out.
Like Chibi said though, you probably dont have the tools to disable it electronically.
