BlownUp is right, when mine broke, the first piece did what yours did (broke at the boot). Just to get going again, use a pair of needle nose and pull the hard plastic piece from the boot (it's not glued in, just fits by pressure) and feed more of the longer line in (not a perfect fit, but gets you going again).
I also found on mine, the rubber U turn that long hard plastic line goes into on the other side was cracking BAD on my car. I was really surprised it was all sold as one piece from the dealer.

They break all thr time, I always go to salvage yards and pull as many as I can just in case... one is for the fuel pressure regulator, the other is for a evap sensor... on the l36, its tobthe left of the green cap you see on the front od the engine.

I've had to change that part twice on mine. The one currently on there is perfectly fine, though I wrapped it in electrical tape out of paranoia anyway.

Since this seems to be a common problem here is the GM Part# 24506671 GM HARNESS. I had to replace this on my 98 regal and now on my monte carlo. Included is the connector to throttle body, connector to fuel pressure regulator, u bend to purge valve, and the lines connecting these.

you might be able to find rubber pieces at a auto store, that piece is like hard rubber thoguh. are you trying to make one that just looks different or for a different reason

I know I am a little late but I was just wondering if you figured it out
I don't have a hose there either and I assume it was open on purpose to let air in
I would like to know if it belongs open or not if anyone could tell me.

The picture just above your post? Thats the boost bypass solenoid. Its supposed to have an open end like that. Theres supposed to be a small spongey piece over the open end but they deteriorate and fall off.
