Default A/C Compressor?

Hi all. I have an '05 w/3.4. My a/c went out last year, just up and quit with no warning. Now I guess I'm going to get around to fixing it.....I hope. I'm hoping I can help "diagnose" on here.

As I said, it just stopped working overnight. Freon is full. When I turn the a/c on I get nothing. No cluncking, no whirring no nothing, the clutch just doesn't engage, there is no noise coming from it at all.

Is it the compressor or is it the clutch? I've read and watched videos that if it's the compressor the clutch still engages.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Put the car to defroster and see if you can get it to kick on and spin.

If it doesn't spin, and you are SURE it's full of freon the compressor might be shot. If it's low it won't spin because there is also oil in the freon so parts don't get damaged.

Chibi..........Did it, didn't work. I'm sure it's full of Freon because a couple months ago, tried to put some in with a can attached to a gauge, gauge indicated 100% or full.

I've also switched out the modules/fuses in the box under the hood that are identical and there was no change.

So, it's the compressor?

Thanks for your help.

Usually you can get that stuff tested for very cheap, because if you remove the compressor it's going to empty your system.

i have an '03 with 204k miles. this is the first major problem i have had with the car, owed it from 36k miles. anyway, i dont get any air blowing at all without the car actually on. will not accept any freon so i am assuming it is full (never had it serviced before and the air worked just fine and cold last year). tried turning the blower on with key in on position without starting the car and am i getting nothing, does this mean i need a new compessor/clutch or both. or could it be electrical? fuses look good.

thanks in advance.
