I was wondering if anyone here could help me find a way to break into my glovebox on my 1981 Monte Carlo.

This is what im looking at.


I do have the lock lying around but when attempting to put it in place and using the door key it wont open. I actually bent the key slightly I was trying so hard. I've also tried taking the screws off the hinges at the bottom with no real results. Then in my frustration I tried just trying to jimmy the latch with a screwdriver and ended up causing some sparks and so I havent touched it since.
