hey i bought a "cold air intake from a seller on ebay i believe it was chromeintakes. when i set it up it looked like this

i havent noticed any improvement as promised but i bought some inake tubing and put the filter in the fenderwell as much as possible. heres what it looks like

does this make my intake more cold or is it still the same basically?

Yeah keep it as far away from the engine as you can. Cold air in the engine is always better, I believe you got a pretty nice setup there with the fenderwell intake

yes & no.
You have it wide open in the engine bay. Even though its set in the fender, or in the open all you're doing is sucking in hot air from the engine that doesn't add too much power. True cold air intakes have a box set up to shield the hot engine air from the colder air coming in.

It looks good so far but the best thing you could do is make a shield or it. Something like this will work and its less the 5 bucks. Oatey, No-Calk Plastic Drip Edge Flashing, 11937 at The Home Depot - Mobile. A few members have used this. Zjerry is one who comes to mind. Take a look in his garage for some pics.

Yeah definitely make a heat shield. I regret buying the 300 dollar k&n air intake

that will help a little bit but the best is a intake with a box. even the best intakes i have never seen a noticeable gain from just good sound.
