Default Belt Tensioner

Has anyone change the belt tensioner yet? I looked at it this morning, since I am off today I thought I would try to change it myself today but it looks like a real PITA. Look like you have to remove the alt to get it out of there.

Is it a PITA? Or am I just looking for an excuse to hold down the couch?

if you have 3.8 yes you do have to remove the alt. and get a catch pan. the coolant from the heater core runs through it. theres an elbow made out of plastic, that always breaks. you'll have to change that as well. 15mm to take tension off the belt,13mm and 10mm to take off the alt. 13mm to remove the tensionerbolts (3) now a bit of pryin'. let me know how everything came out. danny.

I thought it looked like there was a tube of some sort in the area that had to be removed.

Here it is.... So I take it this is snug fit with O-rings at each end?

What's up with GM and running water through crap it should not..
