On my '06 monte carlo my BCM just went out. If I order a new one can I take it to the dealer with my VIN number and have it pre-progammed that way. If not will my car start with the new one so I can drive it to the dealership???

 

I had to have mine towed to the dealership, my mechanic bought one from them, installed it in their parking lot, and then the GM techs had to do their magic. More often than not you need to take your car to the dealer, install the BCM and then have them program it there.
