battery
I'll bet it has to do with the Anti-Theft Circuit. I had a company put a remote start in my wifes Honda. When the Battery was disconnected or the front-end jacked-up for changing a tire ... the Anti Theft Circuit Immobilozed the Car. It would crank. But, it would NOT start. I had to have it towed to the Place that installed the remote start and alarm box.
I don't know what they did, nor how they did it, but the Ignition was fixed and the car started-up fine ans still does.
actually i would go with ur vats system (or is it passlock II i cant remember but anywho) it if turns the lights on and everything then it prolly is the security system...with my remote start (that still doesnt work) it will send 12 volts all the way to the starter but the security system will not let the remote start turn the car over or even begin to let it crank...its a really angering time

It's also nice having mechanic friends who have the proper tools to diagnose and fix problems.
