Aftermarket Security System?
I have read before about some people having issues with the range of their keyfobs and other gripes about the security systems in our 00 to 07 Monties. I have to practically be on top of my car to unlock it.
Has anybody ever replaced the security system in these cars, or added components to it to increase range and possibly additional functions?

It's pretty common to do, especially for adding remote start to cars that didn't come with it originally.
They used to sell and install at places like Best Buy / local car audio shops. That would be my first stops for a quote if you don't plan to DIY it.

Do you know the car actually has remote start / that a person didn't just buy that remote aa a replacement?
Have you tried it as close as you do for your locks since the range is short?
I've only installed aftermarket systems, never done a OEM one.

I don't know all the ins and outs of the remote start offered from the factory on 2006-2007 Montes. But, if you have any active "check engine" situations, I do not believe it will work.
