After market Speedo n Tach !
Hello guys, I found a site that has a digital speedo and tach.. I want to change my gauge design a bit, but want to make it so that the new one fits over the old and can just be removed and the old is ready to go. My "Plan" is to make a Benzel to fit over the old speedo, my question is, the speedo in the 6th gen monte have an electronicly controlled speedo, or is it a cable like the old ones. I know (or think) the Monte has a wire to hook up the Tach, so I was hopeing the Speedo just needs a wire as well. My plan is to make a small wire harness and splice into the existing plug that goes into the rear or top of the speedo, just need to find out what wires go to what gauge and make it somthe new one can just plug in and unplug the old one and vise versa. I can do a quick drawing idea of what I want , but maybe you get the idea.. It's not a thing that needs to be done, just want something a tad differant to see how it looks. I just bought a killer LCD blue glowing backround digital clock that I'm gonna install in the dash so it looks factory (I don't really have any clock now because my New Pioneer has a 1/4 inch high display for a clock ! Lol..any help would be cool.. I can get a picture and info on the new speedo and tach if needed.. Thanks a ton for any help on the wiring of this unit.. (the new one just has wires and sending units if needed for the oil, temp, gas, etc...)
