Default 2004SS speedo&tach problems

I have a 2004 SS,67,000 miles, with a speedometer and tach that don't return to zero when key is turned off and read at different
positions while driving. Checked codes and nothing came up. Any ideas on this problem?

It sounds like a defective cluster.

These cars are known for it..

They are definately known for it. I replaced my first one at about 25K because it kept locking at around 50 MPH so I was doing 125MPH and actually traveling at 70 MPH. I just had it happen once again at 43K, but it seems to have gone away again... I'm almost at 47K now.

As for a temporary fix, turn the car on and back off, that will reset the gages but you may have to do it a couple of times to hit 0. I was under warrantee so I had it replaced ASAP.
