depending on the year of your car, the a/c compressor is a 5 piston variable displacement style and a smaller pulley in theory should work just fine. it will only produce as much pressure as it needs to. as for the rest of the car, i'd try it out because replacing the clutch and pulley usually wrecks the compressor shaft. as long as the belt is still the correct size and has free room to self adjust under load i would think it should be okay.

Thanks justin the only thing that I have noticed is the rest of the pulleys are for a 6 grove belt so it tore one groove off before I found the problem.Its a 2000 mc ss 3800.That was a expensive lesson. I was told just to run it with the belt with the groove gone not real comfortable with that.
