hey guys. I have a 2000 Monte Carlo LS (3.4L). Recently its had some trouble starting. I turn the key and the engine sounds like it starts but immediately dies. If I give it just a little gas while trying to start it the engine will start, and rev high but eventually settle down to normal.

I had a check engine light and pulled the code. It was P1404 which said "EGR Closed Position Performance." I went and bought a new EGR valve and installed it. Same issue. Took it to a NTB shop and the tech said that the valve I had was either bad or the wrong model (the one i bought was from autozone and model EGR1147). I took the valve back today, and got a new one with the same issue.

Anybody got any ideas as to what the issue could be? I cleaned the MAF before I pulled the code thinking maybe that was it, and I also changed the throttle position sensor thinking maybe I had a dead spot in the potentiometer.

One more sensor on the TB you missed. The IAC.

When you need to give it gas to start sounds like that's the issue.
