7th GEn Monte Carlo P0010
Had bought a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo few months ago and got it to run recently. New harness, spark plugs, coils, oil change and filter. Got it to to run and such. However, I'm getting check engine light on P0010. From reading what it is. Its supposedly an oil change which already has new oil on it. Had spliced and put a new connector and same. Changed the sensor and still has P0010 (erased the code beforehand with the scanner tool). Had reset the CEL again. But, this time resetting the PCM via the radio way on oil life. And surprisingly still gets P0010 from all these attempts. I'm at a standstill and unsure what to do other than spend cash and do another oil change. Would appreciate any feedback from someone that had went through this situation. The trim is LT (3.5) and has 212,000 miles.
That code should be for the vvt camshaft solenoid, not for oil changes. Certainly EXTREMELY dirty / sludged oil could cause it, but since you already put fresh oil in it, putting in new fresh oil isn't going to do anything.
I'd bet its the vvt solenoid itself that has died.
Certainly possible it could be the ecm, but those solenoids are far more common to see fail than the ecm itself.
