Unhappy 3.5 Monte stops accelerating around 2k rpm

HELP!!!! My monte is a 2006 3.5 lt.

So on my way to work this morning my car had stopped accelerating at around 2k RPM's and about 55MPH. Basically i would hit the gas and the RPM's didnt increase nor did the MPH, the car actually started to slow down... So i let go of the pedal then slowly worked the RPM's back up to speed and it works that way.

Theres no check engine light, i did some work on my intake last night took it apart painted the piping with some high heat ceramic black paint. While i was wating on the paint to dry i did take a can of compressed air just to clean the MAF out a bit. Hooked it all back together then roughly 15 miles later these problems occured.

Maybe i damaged the MAF with the compressed air?

Ive heard it could be a number of things ranging from the most expensive of a tranny, down to a bad alternator, battery, plugs/wires, belts, timing, and anywhere along fuel delivery....

I havnt troubleshooted anything yet and its going to the mechanic tonight so hopefully someone can let me know if its a simple fix before i do so.

Oh yeah and it does have close to 101500 MI on it...

Thanks fellas!

Default Update

Went out for a lunch break to get wendys about a mile or two away... Before i left i unplugged the MAF, started driving with no problems at all. Got wendys and before i left wendys i plugged the MAF back in, no problems at all. Maybe it was a loose connection? maybe the MAF is starting to go? or maybe the MAF is still not even the problem.

I will keep you guys updated.

could also be the cat, it gets clogged and then you lose all power, that should probably still be under your warranty?

I think i might be out of the warranty... I have 101k miles on it, unless the cat has its own warranty?

Sometimes Cats do if they are known to be faulty. But being an 06, IDK if they are faulty like the 00-04 cats.

You can damage a MAF by using anything on it besides MAF cleaner, so just keep an eye on the MAF and see if it happens again.
