On my 2006 MC SS, the steering wheel squeaks in the area between the steering wheel and the part dorectly in back of it. If I turn the wheel in either direction, it squeaks. I have tried spraying silicone spray behind it, but the squeak still come back the next day. Anyone have a remedy?

 

it's a GM thing....I had it in my 05 silverado, got in my monte , it's in my gran prix....but mu 06 impala doesn't have it ....yet! Easy fix is turn the radio up and drown it out <grin>. The GM guy that does the work on my vehicles said you have to pull the steering wheel off ...there's a rubber grommet or something like that that dries out...he calls it the gm squeak

 

Kinda figured that this squeak was something that never completely goes away, no matter what is done. They pull the wheel, replace the rubber grommet and in a couple years it is right back there. Kinda like the ISS knock. Never goes away. Thanks johnniep.
