Default 2006 Monte Carlo Brakes 108k Miles!

Well it is time for me to put Brakes on the Monte Carlo. The indicator is just touching the discs now.. You only hear them in reverse though.. There is still enough pad left to get some more miles so I have time to order on-line

Something tells me that these are going to be Ceramic brakes on this car from the factory.. My Rims never get black dust, and I have never gotten 108k out of a set of brakes...

My 95 and 98 Grand Ams use to go through brakes about every 30k miles.

So anyways, I think I want to stick with OE style pads if I got this kind of life.. The rotors are still nice a smooth and I do not have any shaking. The Front Disc Brakes on the Grand Ams were cake. Two hex hey bolts and the calipers come off.

I will have to see what I am getting into this weekend on the Monte.. I am tempted to order the Pads tonight or tomorrow fro Rock Auto or something.. I am fine with my rotors.. Is there anything else I should just get with the pads off the bat just because as long as I am in there it is a good idea?

Thanks,
Jeff

Get your rotors turned, also.
I like Hawk HPS pads myself. I got 120K mi on my last set of front pads, and my rears have 170K and are still good. WAY less $$$ than factory, or even NAPA's best pads.

i would use a micrometer and check the thickness of your rotors atleast. and if they are too close to spec, there is no point in turning them. you take off .005 i believe eveytime they pass. and it cost $1 per minute at most places. if they are close to being outta spec, its better just to replace. rotors dont come as "beef" as they used to anymore
