Default 2006 Monte Carlo SS Transmission Slipping only 76000 miles

I bought a used 2006 Monte Carlo SS about a month ago and the transmission is slipping. It doesn't slip all the time, just once in a while at take off in 1st gear. Will I need a rebuild or is it another issue??

Sorry to read about your problem with your S.S.
Do you have the past maintenance records on your S.S. ?
Do you know if the fluid/filter has every been changed ?

I would seek out the best professional transmission person that you can on this problem...I hope it's just needs transmission service...

If the previous owner(s) abused your Monte before you purchased it, it could be the transmission is going I hope that is not the case, but that is why it is imporant to find a good shop to check it out...

Good Luck 4-Sure

Should I try to have the filter and fluid changed or start looking for a rebuild?? Has anyone tried a Jasper rebuild??

Go and get the filter and fluid changed and see if it helps. Make sure they use really good quality products.

DO NOT MENTION THAT IT SLIPS. If you say that, the shop will immediately say it is bad, whether it is or isn't so that they can sell you a new tranny. If it still slips after the change, have TripleEdgePerformance build you one.

I ended up putting a Jasper rebuild in since I live in Indiana. Ended up costing $2400 installed.
