Default 2003 SS A/C not working . . . . . . well not completely. must be on at least level 3

whats goign on guys? what do you think is the cause / resolution for this issue. my monte blows freezing cold air but you dont hear nor feel any cold air until you turn the level dial on 3. if on 1 or 2 , the light will illuminate (as if the air is blowing) but it wont "actually start blasting until its turned to 3. its not like the air is real real low at 1 & 2 , its completely off at 1 & 2. once clicked all the way to three, its blast air very abruptly even harder on level 4 and 5 (but im not trying to freeze myself trying to get from point a to point b. i usually always ride my car with the air on level 2 but i have upgraded to 4 since this issue started happen. any ideas whats happening and what i should do to resolve this? thanks for reading guys.

check your cabin air filter maybe ?? when you have the cabin air filter out you can see the blower motor turn on the blower and see if it is truning on 1 and 2 settings

update .............. so i go to the automotive shop and order the filter. get back home. eat some lunch and decide im ready to change filters. only to realize i grabbed the wrong type of filter (i bought an air filter instead of a cabin air filter) luckily my filter needed changing anyway so i changed it out. ill probably run to oreily's or autozone tonight and buy the correct part and try this again. dont laugh at me. updates soon

If there is absolutly no air and the blower motor isn't running on 1-2 fan speed settings it's the blower resistor. It's just behind the blower going towards the firewall and it's held in by 3 5.5mm screws. It's easier to access if you take the blower out also to see it better.

UPDATE: justin knight was correct (AS USUAL . . . . . meineke changed it out in 30 mins and for around 45 bucks and my all levels are blowing fine including 1 and 2. the tech showed me how my old resistor had a crack straight down the middle (ouch). i can now drive to my destinations without freezing myself.
