Default 2002 Won't Start/Crank Over/Not Passlock

Took the car to ChibiBlackSheep's house tonight, turned it off for a tune to block out Passlock/VATS, and it didn't turn back over at all when I started it. Undid the tune, still wouldn't start. Experienced all the same symptoms as it has the last two times it wouldn't start. When I left it overnight where it was, it would start again. But we ruled out Passlock because I didn't have the SECURITY message flashing or on steadily. When I start the car, the only light that comes on is the CEL and the fuel pump primes and then shuts off. (Similar to Passlock.) But it's also not a battery issue.

So most of the people I've asked have ruled it down to a new starter/bad starter ground wire (haven't done the hammer hit check yet) or a new ignition switch that is needed. Opinions?

Sorry it wasn't Passlock

Hopefully you can get it started tomorrow! The more I think about it, the more I lean toward the starter.

i would say starter as well man, when i was having a similar issue it was doing exactly what your car was doing in that vid on fb, i took the starter out and had it tested...it tested good AT first, i had them test it 5 times and it failed 3 out of 5, i highly think its the starter

Good news it started and I got it to a dealership. Gonna be big bucks, but that's okay right now.

Just because the fuel pump primes does not rule out a failing pump. I've had that mess happen before, it primes, but lacks pressure.

As recommended, I agree with the tap the starter with a hammer. Luckily, I've never had to do that for myself, but I know others who have.

Hopefully you will have some answers soon and back on the road!!

Default Update!

I went to Chevy and they replaced my starter! Apparently it was bad! But I haven't had any trouble with it starting since then! Thank God!

I have a 2001 MC SS with 161000. I have replaced the radiator, cooling fans, starter. I have also replaced my intake manifold now for the second time. After the first time it was starting a little hard, surging at times. Long story short, it blew up!(forgot to say, cause, fuel regulator) It luckily it did not catch on fire, however cost me a pretty penny as I also had my mechanic replace my valve cover gaskets that were leaking, and my ignition switch as I was having the pass lock problem with the car starting when it wanted. In any case, today when I started it to go to work, the damn security light came on!! I turned it off and back on and still came on and stayed on for a 32 mile drive. I restarted it when I got to work and it went out? In any case, should I have a new key cut? I heard sometimes the keys can be part of the problem? Sorry it got long
