Default 2002 Monte Carlo electrical problems

I have a 2002 Monte Carlo that has been acting very strange lately. It has been opening the trunkon its ownn, the emergency brake light is always on even tho the e-brake is not on and the dome light does not shut off until the car has been sitting for 15 mins. Oh and the dinger NEVER shuts off regardless of whether or not the key is even in the ignition. Now I'm almost positive that all of this is due to a recent installation of a remote start done a couple days before all of this started. My neighbor did the installation but it is what he does for a living and he is out of town for 2 months so I don't know what to do. Please help. and btw..... If I disconnect the battery and wait 10 mins and reconnect it, but I can drive the car for a couple hours before it will do it again

maybe ytour neighbor installed something on the wrong wire, or there is a bad ground/ wire touching that shouldnt be, or a bad remote start system altogether. could also be a bcm prob, but eliminate the recent add ons first.

I took the entire system out of the car a few days agi and it was fine for about three days and them yesterday it started doing it again so I don't think that thatwas problem. Could he habe permanently messed something up? What is a bcm problem? Thanks for the reply

your car has two main computers. a pcm, or powertrain control module, and a bcm, or body control module. anything not related to the actual running or driving of the car, (anything in the body) is controlled by a bcm. if a bcm is having problem, perhaps from internal shorting, or what have you, it could have many different things happen. some of which would be random things coming on and off. i would also double check for a wire to be touching, or a ground loose somewhere as well.

Sounds expensive.... lol. Tomorrow I'm going to double check the wires and he grounded it to a spot that already had a ground wire connected to it so I will see where that other wire leads to as well. Thanks for the help!
