Angry 2002 LS Not working.

Hello all. I had a post on here before but cannot find it now so I need to start all over again.

I have a 2002 Ls and am having big problems with it.

1.) In the past I was having problems with the car shifting. I would floor it and was only able to get it up to 2500rpms, not knowing what was wrong I took it to the shop. I was told that it might be an exhaust problem so I took it to an exhaust shop. They said that the exhaust was fine and there was no restrictions. They said that they thought it was misfiring and I should change the plugs and wires. I did this and also changed the fuel filter and fuel gauge sensor.

2.) I have not driven the car for a while and now it will start after a couple of cranks but when I hit the gas it bogs down and dies, I wish I knew what to do.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know, I really don’t want to take her into the shop and spend money that I do not have. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Default cat's plugged

a partially restricted catalytic converter sounds like the problem. exhaust shop was wrong, there is an oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold at the firewall take it out and try the gas lightly and for a short time if it seems better then the exhaust is plugged up enough. also have the MAF sensor cleaned that can have that affect depending on how dirty it is. if the car only makes it to 2500RPM its cuz the engine can't breath enough. there may even be warranty for that car's converter at a gm dealer.

FYI - GM extended warranties on the Catalytic converter for '01-'02 for a manufacturing fault that caused pre-mature failed. Search this forum, I'm sure you can find more details about it (and using the search function or the quick links for "your subscribed threads" will also find your original thread).

Find the info about the extended cat warranty and then go to a dealership that can do GM warranty work.

Best of luck!

Default Warranteed or not?

Was your car eligible for the extended warranty? Hope you checked it out cuz the factory cat is the best one for keeping the SES light off and emission testing. It is warranted for 10 years from in service date and 190,000kms
