Default 2001 Monte Carlo climate control selection

I have a 2001 Monte Carlo with a air selection problem. The system is in default mode and blowing air from all the vents at the same time. It does not change with any selection of feet, defog or regular vent. How to I get things back to normal? I also just noticed the passenger side only gets warm air even if the a/c is on.

have you pulled the dash apart and looked to see if the vacuum hoses are still attached?

as far as the a/c not getting cold you might need freon/134 a in the system.first you should have the a.c system purged and new 134a installed.your local mechanic will charge you 100 or so.it is worth it.he will also have to check for a leak since your a/c is a closed system.the other issue sounds like your blend doors.are no opening and closing

I talked to my local GM dealer and the service guy said the there are electric actuators that move when the selector is turned. I was under the impression before I went there that it's a vacuum system that is used, but I guess I was wrong.

He suggested checking for voltage at these actuators but it seem kind of pointless because I know they didnt all break at once and they are all open, which he said means its in default mode.

Now since I have no control over the passenger temp control I am starting to think that the panel may be the problem. My friend has a 2002 so I will try his panel tomorrow and see what happens. I'll let you guys know what happens and thanks for the help. If anyone has another suggestion I would appreciate the help.

So I managed to get the problem sorted out. It was indeed a vacuum line that was melted in the engine compartment due to a cracked manifold from last week. Still no temp control for the passenger side though. All the fuses are good so I guess I will have to track down the where the actuator is and check it out. Anyone know where it is?

I have a 2000 Monte Carlo LS with an air selector problem as well. It won't change when I turn the dial. Where was the vacuum hose located that you had to fix?
