Question 04 Heater/system problem

I have a 2004 MC (SS if relevant in this I don't know) and am having trouble w/2 things. Please be patient as I am doing research for my hubby as we don't have a computer at home right now.

A) 3 times my whole unit has not come on. The last occurance was last week and it took 30 minutes before the unit came on. It did have power (lights were on) just didn't come on. When it came on it was working great

B) Been having issues with my heater getting hot. It does not like to get warm until I am on the freeway. The cold works just fine.

My CE Light is on and my husband is replacing the 02 sensor. Don't know if relevant but will say it anyhow.

Thanks for all your help! I have a 45 minute hike to work each day and need this fixed so I don't get stuck driving the neon to work just to have heat.

i have 2 guesses it's either the resistor or the blower motor itself. both are locate in the front passenger side under the glove box. they are pain in the *** to get to.

You don't mention whether or not the blower is on while driving on the freeway. Is it the same for BOTH sides? Passenger and driver? Could also be the louvers under the dash that direct the airflow from vent to ac to defrost...........

Default Blower:

If the system is on, the blower works on both sides. My typical problem is it will not heat up until going at faster speed. If I am sitting in the car in park, if I rev the engine for about 3-5 minutes it will eventually start warming up. If teh car just runs for the same amount of time idling, it will not get hot. (tested while waiting at bus stop with daughter). It used to get hot while the car was idling, warming up.

I was in a wreck last week-some dumb jerk ran red light and took off my front end-just got back on Monday and my front end looks better than it did before. Woo-hoo! If only I could have got insurance to pay for the heater repair lol
