Default Heater control problem

I have a 2005 Monte Carlo SS with dual HVAC control. The passenger side control works fine, but the drivers side blows cold air.I have a hunch that it may be the actuator motor. If this is the case, how can it be checked and how hard is it to be replaced. Could there be any other possible problems?
