A bad wiring harness to one of the hubs will cause this to happen especially when its wet outside. It happened to me.....only the ABS light came on. Appparently GM uses defective wiring harnesses which go bad and need to be changed or upgraded to a newer hub harness....typical GM issues on their defective products....welcome to the Monte Carlo defects club Fuzz!
My ABS light and Trac Off light came on and off for a bit from like February to May, but haven't since then despite me not doing any repairs...
Anyways, I just wanted to add for everyone's help: I always use the code reader from O'Reillys and the 3 different stores (in Indiana) that I've used have all been able to read and erase both regular CEL and ABS lights for free.

i called orielys and autozone they BOTH said they will only do the check eng. light NO ABS lights ??? drove it yesterday for proly 25 miles on the inerstate 65mph sunny 73* cruise cont. set and POP ther it came on stayed on the rest of the drive for about 50 miles or so shut of went in for about 45min came out started car still on drove the SAME route home stayed on the whole time pulled in the driveway shut it off started it RIGHT BACK UP AND IT WAS OUT !! so i drove it aroud for about 10 miles never frekin came on !!!
Sounds like there is definitely something wrong with the ABS system. Like I said standard code readers don't work, that's why these shops aren't able to help you.
You will need an expensive code reader. If you REALLY have to get it done, you might have to chalk up the "diagnostic" fee at your local dealer to get the code read.

I swear that all three of these OReilly shops had a scan tool that allowed me to read the ABS codes unless I'm misunderstanding...
My check engine, service vehicle soon, service traction system, ABS light, and Trac off light would flash from time to time for a couple of months. I would go to OReillys and read the codes and delete them. Then it would say read ABS codes, ask for the manufacturer and then tell me this:
ABS Check on March 5, 2011
C1218 Pump Motor Circuit Short to Voltage or Motor Ground Open.
C1276 Delivered Torque Signal Circuit Malfunction.
U1016 Manufacturer Specific- Loss of Communication with Engine Control Module (ECM)
So maybe different stores carry different scan tools or I am not actually reading the ABS codes like I thought I did?
