Hi my name is Armando and I have a 02 Monte Carlo SS with the 3.8. My issue is that my car stopped on me on the freeway and I changed my fuel pump but now my car sputters out when I turn on my headlights. When I turn on my blinker or hazards it drags and shakes. Also when my headlights are on it won’t go into reverse without it cutting off. I can hit the brake pad when my lights are on and it sputters out. I NEED HELP. Car has 165,100 miles on it. Haven’t done anything to it but my fuel pump

 

I would suggest you check the connections to the new fuel pump make sure the contact is good.
Also change your fuel filter as well.
Now the solution could be as simple as your Ground some place is not doing it's job. So I think if you check all the Grounds in the electrical system.
Make sure the battery ground has good contact. Make sure those wires are not loose.

 

Can this be an alternator issue?

 

connections on the fuel pump is good now I don’t know about the grounds. I’ll have to have someone look at them. But the shop told me I had a short in my MAF circuit also. And it only cuts off when my headlights are on. If they are off I can drive. It stalls out when I try to drive it EVERYTIME
