Default 01 Monte Carlo SS service vehicle light

My service vehicle light is on but no engine codes. How do I reset the light?

Is this the yellow service vehicle soon light in the dash? As opposed to the red check engine light?

If it's the yellow light and you aren't getting any codes, how are you scanning the car? Not all scanners can pick up ABS codes, speed sensor codes, airbag codes, BCM codes, etc. Some are only good enough to read the red check engine light code.

Yes it’s the yellow service vehicle light on the dash. I’ve got the FIXD Auto reader and app. After I couldn’t find any codes, I took it to my local repair shop and they tried to find the code for me but came up empty also. I’ve replaced both front hubs so I believe they’re working fine, with the ABS wires. What’s next?

This may be a long shot, but do your running lights come on during the day? On my Monte, during the daytime my car was stuck in nighttime mode, so the low beams were always on (instead of the highbeam running lights). From my research back when I had the light on, I found it commonly refers to some kind of lighting problem, whether it's a sensor, a burnt bulb, or the headlight switch etc.

Default DJ thanks!

Turns out you were right on the money with your post! I replaced the ambient light sensor and immediately my light went out! Thank you so much for your help.

Did you replace it yourself? If so, how? I already bought one while they are still available. I'll probably grab a used one on my next junkyard trip also.

There's a piece of trim that you can pop up with a flat blade screwdriver on the dash by the defrost vents. It's probably a 5 minute job and I believe there's a video on YouTube that shows how to do it if you're still unsure. If you can't find one at a junkyard, I had gotten mine at Autozone for like $12.

That’s exactly what I did. You tube was great. You see the sensor just behind your windshield. That piece of plastic that it’s mounted in just in front of your dash cover. Pry it up until the clips release. That gives you enough room to reach a couple fingers underneath and grab the sensor. Give it a short turn to the left and it comes out. Pull it out from under the plastic and replace it. Goes back in the same as it came out, just turn it to the right to lock it in. Push the plastic down until you feel the clips re-engage. Start your car and the light goes out!
