Default '00 SS vacuum leak

So the wife's complaining about the A/C not blowing hard enough on the '00 SS. Had a look and found the HVAC control module would not modulate between modes, just blows semi-weak air through all ducts regardless what position the mode selector's in, whether A/C is on or off. So I checked actuators and found they had low vacuum (2 psi when it shoulda' been 6). Looked under the hood and found the battery that was leaking and replaced a month ago had corroded a hole in the small plastic vac line that runs along the front of the passenger side fender well, then down behind the back side of the battery. When I pulled on the line it came up because it was not connected and appeared to be purposely plugged, like melted shut. Pinched off the hose before the leak and all the HVAC seems fine now, but for peace of mind can somebody tell me if this is supposed to be connected somewhere? Can't find a routing diagram anywhere, not even the Factory Service Manual. Just by fate, I bought a '03 SS yesterday to flip and used it for comparison and found the same line runs back into a corrugated wiring harness protector shared by a couple of wire harnesses. Where it goes from there I have no idea, but the '00 SS doesn't seem to go there. Thoughts, suggestions and confirmations please

Pics of vacuum line. It's the black plastic tube about 1/8" o.d. Upon closer inspection in daylight I found the line comes off the tee fitting from the back of the plenum, under the fuel rail (pic#1). A larger (1/2" o.d.) hose shares the tee. From there it runs under the vehicle cross beam along the firewall, over and around the passenger side strut tower and down the front of the passenger side fender well (pic#2). Pics 3,4 and 5 show adjacent components for location reference. Pic 5 shows a coupling about 12" back from where the line terminated. The line was open ended or plugged at about the battery tray level along the fender well. I'm thinking it may have gone to a vacuum reservoir that I don't know where is.

See pics a few posts down.

Found the other end of the hose hidden in the wire loom the same as the '03. Spliced in new piece and all is well. It also corrected my fuel trim issue. Now at 0%ST/0%LT.

Find the corrugated black plastic split flex tubing (about 1-1/4" o.d.) that is full of wires and runs horizontally in front of the power steering pump toward the fire wall. Peel back the electrical tape over the end of the flex tubing and open it where it is split. You will find the end of the vacuum line hiding in there among several electrical wires about an inch back from the end of the flex tubing.
I cut the bad section out and coupled the 2 ends together with a piece of 1/8" i.d. rubber vacuum hose pushed over the plastic hose about 1" over each end, no clamps necessary. They do make repair couplings by Dorman for the plastic hose you can buy at Autozone, but they come in an assortment and they were out of the size I needed (5/32" I think) and I already had the rubber hose which seems to work fine.
Below are pics I posted previously on this thread before the repair. Don't be confused by them because they don't show the flex tubing I'm referring to. I don't have any from after the repair and it's dark now. I'll try to get some tomorrow.
