Default Anyone here frome Detroit MI?

Is there anyone on this forum that lives in or fairly close to the Detroit Metro Area that is able to tune my car.

I have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS that had a 3.8 N/A. I swapped to a 3.8 S/C from a 2004 Monte Carlo SS. I swapped over the engine, trans, wire harness, pcm, and bcm from the donor car. My car runs and rides fine, the only issue is that my radio says locked and I can't use it. I was Told I need my Vin programed into my car.

Can anyone help me?

I am from Mason Michigain just south of Lansing. In reguard to your locked radio, I purchased a replacment radio from a salvage yard for my 06 SS and it was locked when I first installed it. The only one that can unlock it is the dealer costs about 50 bucks. They have to verify radio serial number with GM (so the service manager told me) but the salvage yard verified a dealer is the only place authorized to unlock the radio. They stopped locking the radios about 2008

I went to the dealership and the said they can't just unlock the radio because I have the pcm and bcm out of the donor car and the radio came with my car. The said it will cost $99 to program my vin. They said it may or may not work. And no matter what happens I still have to pay $99 for the labor.

Wow... Shaheen's chevy didn't do me that way. I installed the radio from the salvage yard myself... took it to the dealer with the recipt. $50 bucks and 1 hour later and I was on my way.
Educate me please PCM/BCM what is that? That may have been the difference maybe... Sorry you got jerked around

PCM is the computer connected to your wireharness. The BCM is the smaller computer inside your car located under the driverside dashboard. Not sure exactly what each 1 does. But I do know that if they dont match your car wont turn over. lol
