Repairing Our MCF Supercharged Monte Carlo Logo
Gothkid... The comment I made about being mooned by the black 6th gen, I meant as a joke. But I forgot to put the smilie and the LOL in my original post. I must have been in a hurry when I posted. Appologies if you thought I was insulting you or your efforts. That was not my intention. Thank you for the time and effort you put into making the forum a better place.
JJ... I love the new version you posted. I think that's what most of us had in mind when we talked about making a new logo for the site. The one you made looks pretty damn cool.
Wayne... You had a few things I wanted to comment on, so I'll take them one at a time.
So far nobody is complaining about either Gothkid's or JJ's use of certain pictures, including you. I realize you're just trying to give a heads up on a potential "what if" situation. So please don't take offense to what I'm about to say. Because since no one has actually complained yet, it's not aimed at anyone yet. Especially you Wayne.
I really don't think that anyone would be seriously hurt or offended by the use of any of those cars. The pics are are vague enough that it would be difficult to prove who they belong to. And to be honest, if there is the rare occurance that someone is hurt that their car wasn't used, then that's too damn bad! They'll have to get over it. Whining will not be tolerated. Unless it's wining and dining, in which case, we all need to be invited to the party. I think Space said he'd pick up the tab.
As for the size of the header, I could be wrong, but I believe the techs could simply set it up so that the header would be in the middle of the screen. And the edges would be filled in with just the blank checkerboard pattern. The size of the header would definitely be something Patrick and the techs would have to discuss. Any tweeking to the size can be done if/when the time comes.
This topic was a hot topic here a long time ago. The official word from GM is there are only 6 generations of the Monte Carlo. But the argument made by members was that there are enough significant differences to the 06 & 07's to make it it's own generation. The example of the 3rd and 4th gens was used in that argument. Same basic unibody, but the stuff attached to it is different.
In the end, there was no convincing certain people on both sides of the argument. So they agreed to disagree on opinion. But for the sake of keeping the peace, I think everyone just went along with calling it 7th gen. Besides, it makes it easier when discussing parts.

Guys, don't get me wrong, I REALLY appreciate the effort being put forth here. After all I'm the one that prompted this effort, but I don't have a good software to use, and honestly, don't have the desire. My concern is that there is no one saying "You used so and so's car, but not mine, and mine looks better, and, whine, and whine, and whine!".
The original photo was a factory pic, and my opinion was that it should stay that way, but again, that's just my opinion, and I'm not one of the authority figures here.
JJ, I believe you attempt is GREAT, and if you can get another pic of a 5th gen at the right angle, or even have someone provide a car for you to photograph, or for that matter, just find one in a lot somewhere and take a few pics. Do it! That header you have even right now is SSSOOOO much better that the P.O.S. pic we have now, and I REALLY believe a header with all 7 gens will help promote the fact that we are NOT just about 5-7 gens Monte's here. We want ALL gen's on Montes here, and that WILL promote that concept.
Is the size of the header correct?

If you use the Wikipedia link that was just put up else where, it defines the years of the generations of the Montes, and there is no 7th gen listed. What are the opinions here on using 6 gens vs 7 gens for our header pic?

JJ, i love it! it looks fantastic. i like that the cars are mostly the same colors (black & red) so there is a sense of conformity throughout the logo. the new 5th gen you found looks perfect too. very cool!!
It takes time for the techs to do anything on the boards. At least we have the graphic ready for when they get to us.
So give it a little more time.
