hey my 05 ss has the intenia for it on the roof but i dont know if the car is complatible with it. what should i look for or do to see if it is. thanks code red

 

Well, that antenna isn't necessarily for XM - if it's a small black plastic one on the roof, that's OnStar. I believe the XM antenna is the metal one that hooks onto the rear windshield.

 

Actually I believe the metal one is the analog antenna for onstar. I don't have a black one on my roof. Tried gettin onstar activated last year and they told me mine is analog that in order for me to activate I would need to get it switched to digital. Not 100% sure though.

 

In 05 Onstar switched to digital so the black shark fin on the roof is for XM. When I bought my car used back in Feb 09, I was able to get 6 months free. I think all I had to do was contact XM.

 

On my 2005 monte ss and 2005 impala ss in trunk on right side wheel well under carpet there is box that has XM marked on it ..Hope this helps ?
