Default XM - I took the bait

I have decided for now to leave the stock radio as is until at least next spring. On a whim I activated the XM radio and have been playing a bit with it.

Took the XM everything for $14. Used a free activation code XMSCION03. No long term commitment, month to month until I grow tired of it. I have the digital music stuff on cable running in the office, soon it starts repeating. Like over the course of 4 days I have heard every song ever recorded. Twice.

Bonus! It is nice to hit the SEEK button and have nearly every station be in English, unlike AM/FM out here.

This station is my favorite for now . .

We both have satellite radio and love it. BUT! Don't get caught paying list price. My wife LadyT has XM for only $5 a month for a year, $60. I have both XM and Sirius in my Rock'n Intimidator SS. I prefer Sirius, mainly because it has a NASCAR channel standard, and XM has Indy Cars instead. Music channels are all the same, just different numbers since they merged.

So when my Sirius subscription came up due this time I told them I was switching over to XM if they didn't give me Sirius for the same price as XM's $60 / year. They balked, but after sticking to my guns, they gave me their "half price" deal: Sirius radio for $52.07 / year, beating their sister company's price.

So DO NOT pay $14 / month, when for about 4 months rate, you can get XM for $60 / year, and maybe less. Unless you don't like it. $0 / year is cheaper yet.

Just call them and TELL them you want their service for $5 a month, and don't hang up until you get it. Tell them you have friends paying that and you want the same price they pay. It works. We got this from another auto forum.

I signed up when they ran a promotion in June. They had free xm for 2 weeks, then if you called them before the end of the month you got 5 months for $20 total and no activation fee or commitment! But I will bring up the $5 a month when my 5 months is up.....

I'm under the same deal as Lisa right now(5 months for $20). My dad got an email from XM to reactivate the radio in the Camaro, but no mention of my car. He called them and told them he wanted that deal but with a different radio. Had no problems activating my radio with that deal. I will probably call them after my 5 months to get that $5/Month deal.

I just called them to cancel after the 5 month for $20 deal, I told them I couldn't afford the $14 per month, and they offered it to me again, so I am getting another 5 months for $20 total! She said if they still have that promo when the next 5 months is up then I can do it again. Hehe
