I took 2nd Place in 70's Class
Just got back from the Pizza Baron Cruise-In today with my car club (PDXCGP). Our day started early. We headed for the show at about 7:45am, the show started at 10 and ran until 2. Weather wasn't the best, but a lot cooler than the 104 degrees that happened last year. It rained on and off all day with the sun coming out occasionally. Not as big of a turn out as last year, but still a decent number of cars showed up. I entered into 70's class with two other cars so it was a sealed deal that I was going home with an award. I went up against a 72 Chevelle SS and a '71 Pontiac Catalina that use to be the Rose Festival parade car. When it was time for the awards, I was prepared to accept the 3rd place award for 70's because I thought for sure that there was no way I was going to beat my competition with w/o my vinyl top and my roof line looking like crap. I was shocked to find out that I beat out the 71 Catalina and took 2nd Place! I guess the deciding factor was that I had my hood up and my engine showing... the Catalina did not. I'm so happy! It's been 3 or 4 years since I actually took home a car show award.
Five others in my club (there were 7 of us total) took home an award as well...
-Doug C. took 1st Place in 80's and newer class with his 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP.
-Bruce and Cathy Savage took 2nd Place in 80's and newer class with their 1985 Monte Carlo SS.
-Heather Clark took 1st Place in Best GM class with her 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP.
-Clint Anderson took 1st Place in Best Daily Driver class with his 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP.
-Gail took 3rd Place in Best Daily Driver class with her 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP.
Poor Kevin Clark didn't get an award for Sports Car class with his 2006 Corvette. He was the only one in our club to not take home an award. All in all, we had a great time.
