That should turn out good. Also you could a spray on bedliner type of coating on it. They make it in an assortment of colors

Cool idea Lou.. I wonder if that would be at protecting the wood against any damage from the battery?

I got started on my homemade box today. It looks a lot like a subwoofer box Still have lots of work to do. Probably test fit the battery tomorrow, and then work on putting holes in the side for the battery cables to come out.

Grounding out? On what? The battery is completely surrounded by wood.. which last I checked was a pretty good insulator. I'll have a circuit breaker just inches away from the positive terminal also.

I do suggest lining the crap out of it with a rubber of some sort that way god forbid some of the acid leaks out it doesn't soak into the wood and you have a battery box sized hole after a while due to the acid eating throught the metal,

I guess I was just thinking if somehow it could get wet it would, but it won't be getting wet in the trunk haha.

It sure would suck if it got water in it considering I'm making it pretty much water tight But yes.. in the trunk it goes right next to the amplifier

I do have some undercoating I was thinking about lining the inside with.

I made some progress today. I got the main power wire run (PITA!) and set the box in there about where it will sit. I haven't hooked the power wire up to anything. I still want to go over the power wire with wire loom to make sure it's protected and can't short out on anything.

I just got done making these short cables. They will likely get even shorter. On the other end of them will go two side post terminals that will bolt into the battery. The ring terminal will bolt through the side of the box from the inside. Then I will attach the other long power and ground wires to the bolts on the outside of the box.

Unfortunately I'm out of wire. I still need about a two foot section to make my ground wire to attach somewhere in the trunk. Other than that I'm making good progress
