i only got one because i like the voltage reader, i can understand how people can think they work, but havent helped me one bit, and i know they really cant do much

Nobody is refuting that, but the reason the headlights flicker is because the alt can't supply enough current. Putting a cap in the mix and you'll still have an alt that can't supply enough current, and another component for it to supply current to, get it?
