Default Seat swap

Hello everyone. Back in the Monte Carlo game with an 05 SS supercharged.

Quick interior question. Has anyone swapped a seat from a manual groan and installed it onto an electric frame?

is it a direct swap or does it require modifications?

Thanks

I believe the Monte already has all the wiring in place under the carpet for power and heater seat options. From what I have read, it is plug and play. For power seats, put them in, plug them in and all set. For the heated seats, you also need the switch panel for the center console.

And as far as unbolting you existing seat from a non-power carriage and bolting it on to a power carriage, it should be possible, just might be a bit annoying if anything runs into the seat (like the control for lumbar support).

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info. I have electric seats now, but the passenger seat bottom material has come unsecured from the front underneath clip. Found an manual seat in scrap yard in excellent condition and was thinking of swapping it onto my electric carriage

I would assume you can make the swap. Depending how GM did everything may take some time to disassemble. I helped a friend a couple years ago with a seat for a 1998 Cadillac STS. That seat was SUPER heavy. But it had every adjustment, heated seats AND the memory function for two drivers! It was mess of wiring and modules under the seat. We were replacing the heating element and took a while to take the seat cushion apart. The Monte seats are a much simpler design, so it should be a ton easier.

Default Seat replacement

So, I was able to reattach the seat bottoms back to the road under the seat, so that’s good. My big problem now is that the area around the airbag on the drivers seat is ripped pretty badly and the plastic mounting points are broken.

I found a nice 02 at U-Pull It and have sourced lots of great condition items. The front seats are perfect black leather except for deployed airbag on drivers seat. Has anyone replaced one of these airbags before? Is it a difficult proposition?

Thanks for any advice.

I have not replaced an air bag in a seat. But yes, it can be replaced, you just have to disassemble the seat to do it.

Everything is better manually and analog! Great work on creating those brackets!
