Not sure if I missed this or not, have you replaced the batteries in the fobs? I have found aged batteries can cause it not to function as you expect. If you have not tried that, I would do that before going at the BCM or the receiver for the keyless entry issues.

I agree, but jason2982 said he replaced the fob, so I assume it came with a new battery.

I would also not be so quick to condemn the BCM itself either. I would definitely check wiring, especially BCM ground connections first. I would also be suspicious of radio wire connections. A Tech 2 or other good scanner would show a code like B.... for a BCM malfunction.

Here is something strange that I have noticed about the situation. When it is raining like it was all day yesterday my remotes seem to work with a much shorter distance. Sometimes I have to be right on top of the car. Today is a clear day and my remotes work like normal.

I have to wonder if somehow the rain effects the grounding?

One thing I have seen the Technicians do to the remotes. When they change a battery they also clean up the circuit surface of the remotes under each of the buttons.
Finger oils and such will corrode this surface I was told, some folks that have metal issues will also have issues with the remotes corroding inside, not that a new one should have this problem but something to remember.
I have also found many of the batteries to be defective anymore new in the box and they don't test well. Some experience I have had. Good luck with your remotes!

That's a good tip! A little rubbing alcohol is good for cleaning the contacts for the buttons and batter terminals (I had to pull some cordless phones apart and do the same thing because the button pushing on them was not working too well).

So it does seem that it is affected on days that it isn't raining also. That makes it just totally random when it does not function. I guess after I get done with new control arms on the truck I will see about getting the BCM I have programmed and hopefully that will take care of it.
