Not too sure why everyone gets all up in arms about some respectful disagreement/banter/discussion. Nobody has gotten disrespectful so why is everyone so sensitive about it? At least there's activity on the board and it's not a ghost town like a once formerly well known and active Monte Carlo board.

 

 

Between the folks doing the debating, I agree, but there's folks posting stuff that has no added value to the topic of discussion and whining about those of us who are respectfully participating in said discussion.

LOL. JL Audio makes good stuff, don't get it twisted, but it's not soooo good that it warrants the ridiculous prices that go along with it. Example, the 1000/1 amp, that thing costs at least $1000 at an authorized dealer. And no matter what your voltage is in your ride (so long as it's at least 11v and not more than 14.5), you're still only going to get 1000 watts rms out of it!

My Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D costs $500 direct from the manufacturer, and will do rated power, 1500 watts rms @ 12.4v, 1600 watts rms @ 12.8v, both @ 1 ohm...but then drop that to .5ohms and you'll get 1600 watts rms @ 11.8v and 1890 watts rms @ 12.8...but then get real crazy and drop that to .35ohms (do that with a JL 1000/1!) and you will be amazed with 1748 watts rms @ 11.8v and 2245 watts rms @ 12.8v.

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather spend half as much and get over twice as much!!! These Sundown amps are made with the highly regarded Xenon boards, sound great and look just as good as they sound! Another sick thing about this amp is that it's strappable, meaning you can daisy chain two of them together and will end up spending the same amount of money as you would have for that JL 1000/1 but will end up with almost 4x as much power (3740 watts rms @ 1 ohm 12.8v)!!! You might fool these guys but you ain't foolin' me! The only way you hit anything even remotely close to that is if you used a meter other than a TermLab and put the mic in the port. Anything short of that you'll need to subtract about 20db from that bs number you just posted. But if you insist that your 2 JL Audio W6 12's running off a JL Audio 1000 watt amp, in what looks like a prefab 4 cube box in the trunk of your rust bucket with your subs/port firing back hits as hard as Steve Meade's Tahoe that's running 4 18" Ascendant Audio/SMD subs, pushed by roughly 24000 watts rms via Fosgate Power series amps, in a custom built 20 cube box in the cargo area then it's obvious how delusional you really are. I think you'd be hard pressed to break 140db with that setup, let alone flirting with 160 out of your trunk. You're a funny guy
