need to paint my shifter!!! help me!
hey guys, I have a 2000 monte carlo ss pace car. I have the over kill red and black red interior, as some people call it. anyways, my seats are in great condition, but as for my steering wheel, and shift **** I cant say the same. But hey its a 14 year old car, and for the most part I cant complain. I am preparing for the car show in Royal Oak Michigan on June 14th, and I have ordered a wheelskins leather two tone cover. I want to paint the shift ****, its pretty faded, and in some spots the leather is almost like its not there. Has anyone painted their shift *****, and can tell me how i should go about doing this?

In my opinion if you have an actual leather **** and want to refinish it there are red leather dyes that are available. As I don't see paint sticking to for very long anyway to leather.
Make sure you prep the leather good with something like a spot remover and such (read up on this) as there could be oils from your skin and such embedded in the leather, thus preventing a good stick with the new dye or leather grade paints.
So all in all you need to really insure the leather is clean and I always use an Adhesion Promoter before I paint something tricky like plastic etc.

Do you have an upholstery shop nearby? Maybe they can make a new cover for it? If the leather is worn in spots paint or dye will not solve the problem. The worn areas will always look raw compared to the rest of it.

I saw on Google someone had a carbon fiber shift boot, anyone know where I could buy one or know who made it?! I'm really just looking for a new **** or anything better than what I have!
