I agree, they do produce a nice sound (JLA has a knack for doing that). What all subs did you audition when choosing?

 

now see i was trying to find a way to flaot my amp from the stock amp position. thought it would look nice and also not be cutting in to the back of the seats.

But i need to get another larger amp anyway so that i can use the one i have now for my mids and higs . this is what i actually bought it for , just didnt work out like it was suposed to for me to get the other amp i wanted also.

 

subs in a ported box will always be louder than the same subs sealed.

 

If you're assuming properly built ported enclosures, then yes they will be louder...but only within a certain frequency range. Ported enclosures have sharper roll-offs towards the ends of the spectrum.

 

yah,...not assuming an improperly built one...thats the same with any box..an improperly built box will make anything sound like crap...lol..

the box i had was and alpine box specifically made for the type r's...it was red with a silver front plate on it
