tin foil on top fo your tape when your doing the casting, makes things much easier. also poxy ressin smells allot less.

I actually just got done doing the first layer of mine Wednesday. as far as the resin goes, if it's your first time don't use too much hardener and second of all the matte lays down alot nicer if you blot it on instead of trying to wipe it on (like using brushstrokes to spread the resin). I've got a few pictures of what i've got done so far if ya want me to post em.

--and the resin smells like VERY strong paint thinner so find somewhere that's pretty well ventilated.

The amount of hardener you use should be determined by the ambient temperature at the time you're doing it. Obviously the colder out, the more hardener you'd need. Google search for "MEKP chart" and you should find exactly what you'd need to determine how much hardener you should be using.

+1 on the blotting....but the matt you're using has alot to do with it too. Using a heavier matt usually means it won't bend/contour as easily as a lighter matt.

hey guys thanks for all the input! tell ya the truth im still figureing out this site and lost track of this post lol. since then ive gotten about 4 solid layers of matte down all hard, cut and evened off. im about to get to fiberglassing the inside portion of the box (along the rings where the speakers sit so they are much more supported for strength) pics are up on my page of my progress. more to come as im adding 4 polk speakers and an alpine 4 channel amp to the mix !
