It'd be neat... but I still think I'd rather do a carputer, for the available biometric fingerprint scanning just to start the car. That's some cool ish...

problem with carputers isnt at hardware anymore, but at software, it aint cheap, espeicly custom OS masks, their are a couple fully intergrated UI's for carputers that lay over windows OS's but i'm not familuar with the exact prices but i know thier not cheap, neither are the parts, IE GPS moduals, radiao addapters for PCI slots and such. i know the HD radio addapter ive seen for 130$ i could build half a net book for that now a days.

Sorry I took a while to upload it. I tried to do it that night but It wasn't working. Well..this is it. Its in my dash and fully functional. As you can see, I have a lot more to do to make it more flush. I Am going to make a track on the right hand side to slide it in and out..hence why it looks overcut. Once the track is made the iPad will be stationed more to the right and will look better.
I rooted my Droid X phone so I have free wifi tethering so as I drive down the road I have full wifi and can use any app. I am in love with pandora. The sound quality is amazing.

If you have any questions or ideas on how to make it better let me know! (I'm in no means a professional...just a kid looking for something to do haha)

Thanks,
Mike

My heating controls are located underneath the dash towards the back of the cubby hole. You can't see them, but they are easily accessible.

You know how people with aftermarket decks remove the face when they park in case of theft. Are you afraid of the theft of the ipad at all?

trewyn15 - I have an aftermarket head unit in my glovebox with an auxillary cable that runs to the ipad.

Chibi - I am not too concerned with theft. I dont park my car anywhere near the "ghetto" haha as I do not live in a city. however, I am working on making a track for it to slide in and out of so I can remove it.
