I'm new here but I've been installing car audio for 12 years.Ok problem I have a 03 MC SS recently bought(previous owner had audio installed in car) and as I was changing the factory unit for a aftermarket Sony. Factory Radio removed and car wont start,Plug in aftermarket adapter to aftermarket radio car starts,with factory radio pluged back in with ignition off radio stays on. No wires were cut for this install now I ran 2 wires for the new deck 12v constant(red) off the ignition harness and the accessory (brown) now I know that on some are ran off ignition (pink or pink/white). Now have any one out there ran into this problem before because this is the first time for me.

I haven't drove the car since this happened just to isolate the problem Had to drive MY03 WRX [sm=smiley35.gif]

 

sounds to me like u have a short to power to the asyson (audio system on) wire...not sure if thats a chevy term or not. im assuming that u ran the power wire for the aftermarket deck from the ignition accessory wire. did u accidently short the wires?

 

when it does this and it wont turn off. open the door when keys are removed, the radio is to stay on till the door is opened, now see what happens then we can figure it out if problems remain.

 

Mine shuts off when the door is opened, or after 10 minutes if it's left closed even with the key in as long as it's turned off.

 

can i just say how much i love that feature, that the lights shut off after 10 minutes if you forget to turn them off. i would have had a dead battery 3-4 times already if not for that!!
